Hydroxycut SX-7 – Does it live up to the hype

Hydroxycut SX7 from MuscletechHydroxycut SX-7 is a weight loss supplement and training aid produced in Canada, by Canadian Supplements LLC, and sold under the MuscleTech brand name.

The official MuscleTech website is well-designed and creates a good first impression, but the Hydroxycut SX-7 sales page provides very little information about the product and this is not a point in its favor.

Although there is nothing to stop women using this product, the on-page marketing strategy (pictures of muscle-bound men) suggests MuscleTech are targeting male consumers.

Proposed Benefits

  • Super-Thermogenesis
  • Extreme Energy
  • Enhanced Focus
  • Powerful Weight Loss

With claims like that it seems likely that formulation may contain high amounts of stimulants, so let’s take a closer look at the list of ingredients.

Key Ingredients

  • Green Coffee Bean Extract (200mg):  Green coffee beans contain the stimulant, caffeine, which should help “enhance focus” and boost energy levels. Some people can react badly to caffeine, but green coffee beans are also rich in chlorogenic acid—a proven fat burner—so the benefits may outweigh any negative aspects.
  • Yohimbe (56.3 mg):  A stimulant that is often included in bodybuilding supplements for it believed ability to encourage muscle growth. Yohimbe has also acquired somewhat of a reputation as a fat burner, but further study is required.
  • L-Theanine 100mg):  An amino acid found in tea. Some studies show it might have psychoactive properties that may enhance the mood and enable people to better handle situations that are mentally or physically stressful.
  • Coleus Forkohli (100mg):  Sourced from the roots of a plant, coleus forkohli has many medicinal uses, and can be used for treating asthma and some heart conditions, but there is no supporting evidence to suggest the compound can assist weight loss.

Also included are Myristica fragrans, Salvia officinalis and Ecklonia cava

ingredients in Hydroxycut SX7

MuscleTech claim a combination of these ingredients has been scientifically proven to enhance energy and thermogenesis (fat burning), but if such a study is available they fail to provide any link to it and make no mention of who conducted the study. The consumer is just expected to take their word for it.

Recommended Dose

The manufacturers point out that individual tolerances can vary (probably due to the stimulants) so they encourage starting with a low initial dosage.

  • Days 1 & 2:   One capsule only
  • Days 3 & 4:   Two capsules, taken once a day
  • Days 5 & 6:   Two capsules prior to the first meal of the day and one further capsule taken before the second meal of the day
  • Day 7 and beyond:  Two capsules, taken twice a day.

Snacking should be avoided and 10 glasses of water should be consumed each day. Capsules should not be taken within five hours of bedtime and supplementation should be discontinued after 8 weeks.

MuscleTech also recommend adherence to a healthy diet and the pursuit of some form of exercise or training.

Media Focus and Customer Feedback

MuscleTech make the sweeping claim that their products are the choice of champions, but fail to mention any names; so—again—the consumer is just expected to take their word for it.

The MuscleTech website does not contain any Hydroxycut SX-7 success stories. Independent feedback is in short supply and fails to suggest the product lives up to the claims made for it.

“I train. Hard. But I always like to test new products to see if some do improve my efforts. I didn’t feel anything taking this. When I say nothing, I mean a big NO-THING! Not even the boost of a cup of coffee!”

Side Effects and Health Issues

The manufacturers fail to mention if any side effects have been reported to them, but their recommended initially low doses suggest MuscleTech are well aware the stimulants contained in their blend may be problematic to some users.

This blend is not recommended for pregnant and nursing mothers. Some of the ingredients (Coleus Forkohli, Yohimbe) are also known to interact badly with some medications and/or to be unsuitable for some user groups, so anyone with known health issues or health concerns should seek medical advice before use.

Is Hydroxycut SX-7 Recommended

Hydroxycut SX-7 is quite an expensive product and there is no proof it can do anything the manufacturers claim.  It has never been tested and independent feedback is too limited to provide much insight into any possible benefits or issues related to its use.

As a training aid, it may offer some benefits because the high levels of stimulants, but overstimulation can come at the cost of unpleasant side effects.

As a weight loss supplement, Hydroxycut SX-7 has no real edge over the competition. Green Coffee bean extract is an undeniably effective weight loss ingredient, but blending techniques can make or break a product, so, once again, the lack of customer feedback is an issue. Hydroxycut SX-7 is not a recommended product, many better options are available.

Where To Buy Hydroxycut SX-7

Hydroxycut SX-7 is available to buy from the Amazon marketplace, and costs a little over $40, but the majority of sales and distribution appears to be handled by Sportika and this seems to be an effective partnership because their site contains an impressive list of approved product distributors, all over the world. A separate list provides details of unapproved MuscleTech distributors.

Hydroxycut SX-7 – Does it live up to the hype — 3 Comments

  1. Is there anything wrong with taking just 1 pill a day even though it says 2 pills a day? Is it one of those pills that if you don’t exercise a couple days and still take the pills are you going to gain weight when you don’t work out.
